Jeff and Kate have known each other since before the pair were taken up into the Entity’s realm. Jeff, having been in the roadie gig for a while in which he would travel frequently, ended up being hired for a couple of Kate’s performances. The two didn’t exactly see each other much but would always talk when given the chance to.
Jeff actively puts himself in harms way to protect Kate. It’s not that he doesn’t believe she’s not capable of taking hits or doing things herself, but knowing she’d been in the realm longer than he has, having to deal with the pain for so long, he wants to alleviate some of it by taking it himself.
Kate is the first person around the campfire that Jeff relaxes around and opens up to. Partly because of their previous run-ins outside of the realm, but also because its so hard not to find comfort in her personality and companionship.
If ever angry or irritated at anything, Kate is one of a few people who can calm Jeff down quickly. While a few others are able to calm him down, Kate works wonders.
The first few weeks after Kate went missing Jeff would risk sending a text or two now and then, hoping that he’d get a response.
